INSTILLING a sense of pride in the town and making Barrow an attractive place to live, work and visit is at the heart of the Place Development project.
This will be achieved through investment in two public spaces and delivery of events, festivals, and activities focussing on promoting Barrow, both inwardly as a town of which residents can be proud, and externally through a campaign to encourage visitors to the town.
We will work with partners to develop our offer and there is a commitment from BarrowFull, a partner of this project, to deliver activities to the value of at least £25,000 a year.
A programme of events will take place each year starting in Summer 2022 and will build year on year as the facilities are enhanced and developed.
Those attending events will be asked for feedback to understand what type of events and attractions residents and visitors want to see in Barrow to tailor the events programme to ensure maximum attendance and participation.
The funding will be used to deliver:
- Improvements to event spaces at the town centre and Dock Museum and investment in equipment to deliver events
- Promotional activities to raise awareness of events with our residents and visitors
- Work to support new attractions and the sustainability of events and festivals in Barrow
Projects outputs include providing quality spaces for delivery of events and activities, delivering an engaging experience for diverse audiences, developing initiatives and events which will aim to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour among young people and increasing footfall and time spent in Barrow.
